The Fir

/ Naming / ID Kit / Interior + Exterior Styleguide

As Seattle expands, and time in the mountains becomes even more important in our life, maintaining a sense of connection to the natural world is a priority. This begins with curation of space and place. Once an abandoned, invasive blackberry-engulfed lot, The Fir will offer an environmentally-concious ‘base camp’ that newcomers and locals alike will be drawn to. This space has the potential to further establish deeper roots to the PNW, and foster a deeper sense of stewardship.

In collaboration with Kamiak Real Estate Investment firm, and Public 47 Architectural firm, this new identity will be conscious of the space it resides- surrounded by the deep roots of the Seattle community. This new space will stand apart, but seamlessly meld within the environment it exists.

We started with a naming exercise, that explored the core elements of this new residence. We wanted everything about the feel of the space to evoke a modern, earthy, eclectic and welcoming aura. Sensitive to the diverse neighborhood surrounding this area- these new homes serve as a launchpad. Making both urban and outdoor adventures more accessible. Attractive features will be surrounding multiculturalism of this Seattle neighborhood, access to the Cascade Range, the Light Rail, and Mountain-to-Sound Greenway. As an added bonus for the already-nature-lovers, the building will be structured around a resident fir tree. For those new to the area, or new to the outdoors, the goal is to inspire a sense of stewardship to the Pacific Northwest that we all know and love.

The Fir is a proposed 204-unit multifamily project located in the Mt Baker / Judkins Park neighborhood of Seattle.

The project will offer a mix of studios, 1-beds, and 2-bed, plus 4,000 SF of retail. Targeting LEED Gold. Coming 2023.
